Mumbai: The 1993 Mumbai blasts trial is moving at a fast pace, with the court pronouncing another three accused guilty.
Accused number 24 Manoj kumar Bhavarlal Gupta was declared guilty by the TADA court for participating in the RDX landing at Shekhadi under Section 3(3) of TADA.
He was also convicted under Section 6 of TADA for possessing two pistols and one country made revolver.
Section 5 of TADA was also slapped on him for entering into a conspiracy with the other accused for disposal of 59 packets of RDX at Nagla Creek.
Accused number 28 Sayyed Abdul Rehman Sheikh was also found guilty under Section 120(B) of TADA for conspiracy and two counts of Section 3(3) TADA - landing of arms and ammunition at Shekhadi.
He was also a close confidante of Tiger Memon.
A third man - accused number 136 M D Lajpuria alias Mechanic chacha alias Mohammad Kalia was found guilty on charges of attending a meeting at Hotel Persian Darbar and transporting arms and ammunition from Shekhadi to Mumbai.
He was convicted under Section 3(3) and Section 6, TADA Arms Act.
However, the court found accused number 59, Shakeel Shahabuddin Sheikh has been found not guilty. He was accused of recovering 58 bags of RDX at Dahisar Check Naka with the intention of aiding terrorist acts.
His own confession was recorded in which he agrees to throwing a part of the RDX consignment, but claims that he had no knowledge that the consignment that was thrown was RDX.
He had been booked under Section 120(B) of TADA - Conspiracy - and Section 3(3) of TADA.
Accused number 121, Devidas Keshav Ghule alias David was also found not guilty. He too had been booked under Section 120(B) of TADA - Conspiracy - and Section 3(3) of TADA. He was accused of disposing of material at the Nagla Bunder Creek.
His confession was much the same as Sheikh's, in which he claims that he had no idea that the material he dumped was RDX.
Judge P D Kode acquitted Shakeel Shahabuddin Shaikh and Devdas Keshav Ghule as their involvement in the crime could not be established.
