BANGALORE: In 1992, the when then CM S Bangarappa had gone to Jewargi in Gulbarga to inaugurate a canal, then home minister N Dharm Singh had asked Hanumanna Dore Nayak, at a function, to render invocation within five minutes. Hanumanna started rendering the vachanas of Basavanna in typical Hindustani music style. After 10 minutes, when Singh signalled to one of the organisers to ask Hanumanna to stop singing, Bangarappa asked him not to disturb the singer.   Bangarappa sat with the singer for more than 45 minutes. The same year, Hanumanna was given the Kannada Rajyotsava award.   Hanumanna, who is now V-C of Dr Gangubai Hangal University of Performing Arts and Music, Mysore, said: “It is very difficult to come across a multi-facted person like Bangarappa.”
