In a heart-wrenching tale of familial betrayal and alleged abuse in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, 94-year-old Abid Hussain approached the office of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vipin Tada on Wednesday to seek justice against his son and daughter-in-law. Hussain, visibly frail and trembling, presented a handwritten complaint detailing the atrocities he claimed to have suffered at the hands of his family. According to him, his son and daughter-in-law not only neglected his care but also subjected him to physical assault in their quest to seize his assets. Among the allegations, Hussain accused them of forcibly taking possession of his savings amounting to Rs 4 lakh and coercing a tenant to divert rental income from his Delhi property, totaling Rs 33 lakh.
Their actions have left me destitute, Hussain lamented during his meeting with the SSP, where emotions ran high. Responding to the distressing plea for justice, SSP Vipin Tada assured the old man of appropriate action and directed local law enforcement to promptly investigate the matter. The SSP acknowledged the gravity of the allegations and pledged to ensure that the elderly gentleman receives the justice he seeks.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern among locals, highlighting broader issues of elder abuse and neglect within families. Authorities are now tasked with probing the allegations thoroughly to determine the veracity of Hussain’s claims and to hold accountable those responsible for his alleged mistreatment.
