Abducted newborn rescued

BHADRACHALAM: A 10-day-old baby, who had been kidnapped from the area hospital here in the wee hours of Monday, was rescued by police in the evening. Police rescued the newborn from one Pole Shailaja, an issueless woman of Terlapuram village in Manuguru mandal.On receiving information from some mediamen, Bhadrachalam I Town SI Sukhoor took the mother of the baby boy, Punnama to Terlapuram and confirmed that the infant with Shailaja was in fact the former’s son. Shailaja had purchased the baby boy from an unidentified woman for Rs 15,000 on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, police are questioning Shailaja about details of the woman who sold the baby.Karam Punnamma had given birth to a baby boy ten days ago. However, a woman who struck up friendhsip with the mother and baby on Sunday night is suspected to have kidnapped the baby.
