Stating that Assam violence was a ploy by the illegal Bangladesh immigrants to break away the Northeast from the country, Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) national secretary Vinay Bidire has urged the Central government to identify the immigrants and take measures to send them back.
Talking to reporters in Bangalore on Monday, Bidire said that the Assam violence was preplanned, politically motivated and was a result of the immigrants acquiring the lands of local Bodos.
“A strong fence should be erected along the Indo-Bangladesh border and army should be deployed to check the immigration,” he urged.
He claimed that a study conducted by ABVP after the violence has revealed that number of people in rehabilitation camps in Assam had gone up.
Bidire said, “It indicates that Bangladshesis are still finding their way into India.
” He alleged that the Central and Assam governments are not taking measures to check the presence of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants with an eye on their votes.
He also said that there are chances of the Assam violence spreading to other parts of the country wherever the Bangladeshi immigrants are more in numbers, threatening the unity and integrity of the nation.
He said the ABVP which has studied the situation of illegal immigrants in detail will shortly start an awareness campaign across the country
