Hyderabad: Hours after she shamed rapists by posting their video online, activist Sunitha Krishnan's car was attacked by unidentified men in Hyderabad on Thursday. The men attacked her car with stones and broke its rear window.
"Yesterday I started a campaign against these rapists requesting all the people to trace them. Soon after that my car got attacked," she said adding that she has plans of giving the video to the Home Secretary at the Centre.
Sunitha has been carrying out an online campaign against rapists who have been uploading videos of their victims being molested. The attack happened soon after she posted two videos on the internet which showed young men molesting women. They are seeing laughing and joking after committing the heinous crime.
Immediately after the incident, she filed a complaint with the Hyderabad Police following which a case under Section 427 of the Indian Penal Code was registered for causing mischief.
Sunitha has appealed to the citizens and law enforcing agencies to help in tracing the culprits. She also requested people to join the campaign and bring such culprits to shame. "This is not just my campaign, this campaign is for justice against such crimes," she said.
Hyderabad Police too, has asked for cooperation in bringing such cases to the fore. "We have been requesting people to upload any kind of problems or videos they come across and put that on Hawk eye so that we can take action. We are working hard to connect people with police station. Policemen are also being trained to be sensitive to people," Hyderabad Additional Commissioner of Police Swati Lakra said. ####
