Having hosted MasterChef India season 1, Chef Kunal Kapoor is not just a seasoned Chef, but a seasoned judge too. This time around, he says MasterChef India 2 will be bigger, better and bolder while obviously keeping the fun quotient intact.
Working as Senior Sous Chef for The Leela Kempinski, Chef Kunal will be exploring new horizons along with the contestants while following his passion for cooking. He can't wait to see how the contestants take up challenges this time around. 'Anyone can cook', is the mantra he is going to follow.
The complete focus, Chef Kunal says, will be on food in this season of MasterChef India. With this being the second season, most contestants are aware of what they’re getting into, the show’s concept and what’s expected of them.
He adds, "It will be interesting to see how passionate the contestants are and what has them cooking the best dish in every episode. We think it’s going to be tougher for us this time around to pick the best dishes, as the competition moves a notch up."
In fact, last season, Chef Kunal was mighty surprised to see that even amateurs could cook up a good meal. The passion that the contestants brought with them in season 1 was evident in every episode. “The Indian mindset towards food is changing.
And unlike, what I used to think, it isn't all about the technique. We are all creative people and the most important thing is the intention and attitude with which we cook. Khana mansha se banta hai. We don’t appreciate our mums and wives, and hence most of them feel it’s a routine to cook. This plays a major role, I believe in changing the taste of food," he further mentions.
There’s no celebrity this time around, which Chef Kunal thinks will make the show more food focused. Contestants will be walking in prepared like never before. Breaking the monotony is what MasterChef India 2 is going to be all about.
"We are looking for people who know food and can churn dishes in the blink of an eye. Like during the promotional meet, I told the audience that usually the first dish you conjure with ingredients is the easiest one, discard it and move on. Think about another dish using the same ingredients, but discard that too. It is really the third or fourth dish that you imagine which brings forth your creativity".
Want some food for thought? Well, cook from the heart, pour in all the love you have and season it with some positive attitude. You’ll never fail to serve up a finger-licking dish on the platter! At least that’s how Chef Kunal Kapoor in MasterChef India 2 will be doing it.
