With monsoon arriving in full swing in the state, the agriculture department officials have been directed to coordinate with farmers and help them with agriculture-related suggestions through mobile SMS.
Fresh spate of rainfall in the last couple of days has expedited the agricultural activities across the state and department has been asked to help farmers in resolving their problems and queries through SMS, an agriculture department official said on Tuesday.
However, in July, so far an average rainfall of 196 mm has been recorded in state, down from last year's record of 408mm during the same period, he said. Notably, the state government had already asked its officials to get prepared with a contingency plan to deal with any exigency keeping in view the delayed rainfall, he said.
As per the information, so far, Koriya district has received maximum rainfall of 261mm, followed by Bemetara 243 mm and Sukma district 240.8 mm, the official added.
