Amisha, a former airhostess and a mother, overcame competition and won the coveted Miss United Nations 2017.

Bengaluru: She always believed in her dreams and thrived hard to achieve them. Earlier this month, Amisha, a former airhostess and a mother, overcame competition and won the coveted Miss United Nations 2017.

Since her teenage years, Amisha was keen on becoming a beauty queen and collected articles and photos of the then beauty queens in a collage in her book. This book became a road map of her dreams.

Coming from an orthodox family, it was difficult for her to realise her dream but she never gave up.

She joined Frankfinn Air Hostess Academy while she was still in college and completed both in parallel. Soon after completion she was selected for her dream job at Kingfisher Airlines in the year 2007.

After marriage she was supported by her life partner and in-laws and she continued to work for airline. But her goal of becoming a beautiful queen was always in her mind and continued to work towards it.

Amisha had a baby girl (Kohana) in the year 2015, by this time she had switched to Air India and started flying to international destinations.

In 2016, she met her mentor Aizya Joshi (India’s first transgender model) who guided her through the course of time. Amisha started taking part in many social and environment welfare activities. She adopted a girl child and sponsored her education. She also contributed to meet the basic needs of orphan girls living at Pranav Kanya Sang in Faridabad.

Amisha worked passionately to plant trees across her city, Breast Cancer awareness and women empowerment. She distributed earthen hanging pots for birds to drink water and many more of such activities that could benefit the environment.

Amisha took part in Mrs South Asia 2017, which included participants from South Asian countries. Amisha won the Title of Ms India United Nations 2017, in the contest held at Kingdom of dreams in May 2017.

Her next goal on her charter was Miss United Nations Pageant. She defeating 35 hopeful finalists from across the world, in the grand finale held at Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston, Jamaica.

The contest was held for 8 consecutive days starting from 1st July to 8th July (grand finale).

Amisha returned to India on 12th. She said, “I consider this title to be a supreme responsibility towards society and I wish to be the change ambassador for people across the globe.”
