Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan has inspired, albeit unwittingly, a hilarious Twitter trend after his remark that Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is an "Amul Baby", was improvised upon heartily by the Tweeple to take pot shots at celebrities.
"Everyone knows Rahul Gandhi is an Amul Baby and he has fielded Amul babies in some constituencies," Achuthanandan had said.
As the controversy gathered steam with the Congress hitting back on Tuesday, Twitter was abuzz with various takes on the Amul Baby wisecrack.
The tag #AlternateAmuls led to jokes on various celebrities and describing what sort of babies they were born as, such as "Medha Patkar was Wood-wards Gripe-water child" and "Preity Zinta was a Huggies baby."
Even here social activist Anna Hazare led trends with people retweeting "Anna Hazare is a FastTrack baby #AlternateAmuls".
The joke was on actors Shiney Ahuja, recently convicted for raping his maid, and Ranbir Kapoor, a self-confessed serial dater.
"Shiney Ahuja was a Minute Maid kid" and "Ranbir Kapoor was the John PLAYERs kid" got the rounds of chortles from followers who also retweeted "Ashish Nehra is a Happydent kid" and "Dr Batra was a Pills-bury boy."
