Andhakara Thodu to get a new bridge

TRIPUNITHURA: The demolition work of the bridge over the Andhakara Thodu in Tripunithura began on Tuesday.“The existing bridge is narrow and does not have footpaths on the either side. The old bridge will be demolished and a new one with adequate width and other facilities for both vehicular traffic and pedestrians will be constructed. The new bridge will facilitate the smooth flow of traffic from Tripunithura Town to Vaikom and Kottayam,” said officials with Public Works Department.Tripunithura Municipal Chairman R Venugopal said that the construction work will be completed within five months. The vehicles going to the Tripunithura Bus Stand from Ernakulam side will be diverted towards Kannankulangara through the mini bypass.Vehicles from Ernakulam towards Vaikom-Kottayam will be diverted to the road near Tripunithura Government Rest House through mini bypass to enter Kannankulangara.Traffic of mini good vehicles has been banned during the reconstruction work.
