PIRAVOM: UDF candidate Anoop Jacob and his family were the first voters at booth number 107 (Govt HSS, Mannathoor). They arrived at the booth well ahead of the beginning of the polling. Anoop cast the first vote in the booth followed by his wife Anila, mother Daisy Jacob, sister Ambili and grandmother Annamma Mathew. “My father T M Jacob used to be among those who cast their vote right at the beginning of the polling. I also wanted to emulate that gesture. Besides, finishing the job early makes it convenient for moving around the constituency,” he said.Meanwhile, LDF candidate M J Jacob cast his vote after waiting for about an hour at booth number 108 (Manimalakunnu Government College). A few voters were already in the line when he arrived. Though he could have exercised his franchise earlier, as he was the candidate, he waited for others in the queue to cast their votes. “I did not want to embarrass others by jumping the queue,” he said.
