New Delhi: The capture of Ajmal Kasab changed the direction of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks investigation and nailed Pakistan's lies. Its hand in promoting terrorism in India has been conclusively proved time and again. The capture of another Kasab-like terrorist near Udampur in Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday has strengthened India’s case against Pakistan and once again revealed that our neighbour will not let go of its policy to use terror as a tool.

In a big achievement, India's security forces with the help of a local village defence committee, caught a young terrorist alive after a brief gunbattle. One of his accomplices had already been killed by the security forces earlier on Wednesday. Sources say his name is Usman Khan and he is from Faislabad in Pakistan. He is believed to be in early 20s and was carrying an Ak-47 assault rifle.

As former RAW chief AS Dulat said it is a great achievement for India and those who caught him deserve full praise. After the terror attack at Gurdaspur in Punjab, tension between Pakistan and India escalated. However, Pakistan denied its hand in Gurdaspur attacks, which according to Intelligence sources was carried out by associates of Usman who had infiltrated into India along with him.

But the arrest of Usman in J&K has weakened Pakistan’s case has strengthened India’s. Hamid Gul, former chief of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI , was red-faced over the capture. However, Gul known as a rogue officer, dismissively said, "Pakistan has its own problems. India blames us for everything. My answer to India is please attack Pakistan and be done away with it."

A local villager, who caught Usman, said, "We caught him alive. He pleaded with us not to harm him. He said I am like your brother, please don’t harm me. We thrashed him and captured him."

Another villager said, “They (terrorists) were asking for directions to go up the hill."

According to experts, Pakistan Army and ISI don’t want the Nawaz Sharif government to hold any talks with India. They want to ruin any talks by sending trained terrorists across the border and creating mayhem. The recent attack at Gurdaspur and Udhampur are a part of the grand plans.

According to former Indian Army Major General (Retired) GD Bakshi, the capture of a Pakistani terrorist belonging to the LeT is a huge achievement. It has exposed ISI’s lies which terms all the attacks as handiworks of so-called ‘Hindu’ terrorism, he said.

Former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah also described the capture as a big thing. Some even wanted to know if it was a shifting of militancy from Kashmir valley to Jammu region. Omar Abdullah said that under his government, the Jammu region was cleared of militancy.

The captured terrorist is likely to reveal the operational details, Pakistan's hand in attacks and a lot more. It might expose many big names in Pakistani establishment. If the trail leads to ISI and Pakistani Army, they can’t dismiss them as an act of non-state actors.

The war of words is likely to escalate all through the week.
