HYDERABAD: The state government is contemplating to write to the Centre recommending that it allow the prosecution of IAS officers B P Acharya and L V Subrahmanyam, both accused in the Emaar scam case. The state government wants to make this recommendation to the Centre after the CBI told the court that its investigation of three high-profile cases has been impeded by the need to have the Centre’s sanction for prosecution of the IAS officers who are among the accused. The agency had even appealed to the court to prod the state government to send a letter to the Centre.According to sources in the Secretariat, chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi discussed the issue and felt that a letter should be sent to the Centre clearin the prosecution of the two officers.Subramanyam met the chief secretary at Secretariat on Monday and spent four hours there. It is learnt that he requested the state government to bail him out this tight situation. A few days ago, the chief secretary sent the file along with legal opinion on the matter to the chief minister for his final decision. As the legal opinion merely stated the rule position, the chief minister lobbed it back to the chief secretary secretary, seeking a formal recommendation.
