Madrid: Arsenal's teenage midfielder Cesc Fabregas on Friday earned a first call up to the full Spanish squad from Spanish coach Luis Aragones for a March 1 friendly with Ivory Coast.
The match in Valladolid comes with Fabregas having caught the eye in Arsenal's 1-0 Champions League win away to Real Madrid on Tuesday and with Barcelona's Xavi currently out of action Cesc, who only turns 19 in May, is set to seize his chance.
With one eye on the World Cup, only three and a half months away, Aragones also drafted Guti of Real Madrid, who has appeared only sporadically for his country, and Villarreal's Brazilian-born Senna into his list of 22.
Not included is Real Madrid talisman and Spanish record goalscorer Raul, who only returned from a ruptured meniscus and a partial knee ligament rupture suffered in November this week.
The squad:
Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Jose Reina (Liverpool), Michel Salgado (Real Madrid), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Antonio Lopez (Atletico Madrid), Pablo Ibanez (Atletico Madrid), Joan Capdevila (Deportivo La Coruna), Carlos Marchena (Valencia), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), David Albelda (Valencia), Guti (Real Madrid), Ruben Baraja (Valencia), Senna (Villarreal), Xabi Alonso (Liverpool), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Luis Garcia (Liverpool); David Villa (Valencia), Jose Antonio Reyes (Arsenal), Fernando Torres (Atletico Madrid), Joaquin (Real Betis), Juanito (Betis), Fernando Morientes (Liverpool)
