North Bengal Development minister Goutam Deb on Thursday alleged that CPI(M) leader Ashok Bhattacharya and some Congress and BJP leaders are responsible for the tension and unrest in the Darjeeling Hills.
"Former CPI(M) minister Bhattacharya and some Congress and BJP leaders are allegedly helping those creating tension and unrest in the Darjeeling Hills," Deb said in Siliguri.
The Mamata Banerjee government has taken a lot of measures like setting up of the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) for the development of Darjeeling Hills after it came to power in the state, the North Bengal Development minister said. He also instructed the police to take action against some websites which are trying to divide the people of the hills and the plains.
