New Delhi: Bangalore will host India's AFC Asian Cup qualifying tie against Japan on October 11.
As per the revised fixture, the match against the defending continental champions was awarded to Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore, an AFC press release said.
There was speculation that Goa would get to host the lucrative tie, but the honour went to the southern city and the match will be the final test ahead of the Asian Youth Championships to be held at the same venue later that month.
The decision was reached at the fourth meeting of the AFC Asian Cup 2007 Organising Committee.
Before the match in Bangalore, India take on Asian giants Saudi Arabia in another Asian Cup qualifying match in Kolkata on August 16.
There is only a remote chance of India making it to the finals as it lost 0-6 to Japan in the away tie and followed it up with a 0-3 reversal against Yemen at home.
The Asian Cup will be held jointly by Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam between July 7 to 29 next year.
