BANGALORE: After facing stiff opposition to road widening at Malleswaram, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahangara Palike (BBMP) has now decided to widen Bannerghatta Road. Citing the rise in number of vehicle density on the road and presence of malls and wedding halls, BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah said that they would soon undertake the widening of this stretch.
The Town Planning Department has stated that Bannerghatta Road would be widened, owing to the heavy density of traffic there. Stating that the same was mentioned in the Revised Master Plan 2015, they have said that 7.5 km of the stretch would be widened to 45 meters from its existing size. They have instructed concerned departments to start the procurement of required land for the widening. Added to this, Siddaiah also gave the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) a time frame of three months to complete their pipe line relaying work at Bilekehalli, that was in progress for the last three years.
