Bengaluru: One person died and five others have been severely injured after a Mercedes Benz lost control in Jayanagar locality in Bengaluru.
Dr Shankar who was driving the Benz, rammed the car into six different vehicles causing accidents on the 1.4 km stretch. The car mowed down a pedestrian who died. The doctor's maid and her daughter who were with him in the car, told police that the doctor had an epileptic fit.
Police have taken his blood samples to determine if he was drunk at the time of the accident and have produced him in court.
The Mercedes first rammed into Maruti Suzuki Swift near Ashoka Pillar bus stand. The Mercedes was reportedly speeding at 50-60kmph when it hit the Maruti. Swift occupant Tanzim Khan has sustained head injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
The second accident took place when the Mercedes sped towards Madhavan Park from Ashoka bus stand. Two bike riders were injured as it turned onto the Byrasandra Road.
Thereafter the Mercedes rammed into a Zen which hit a Tata Indica cab. The cab rammed into a compound wall after being hit by the Zen.
The doctor sped forward and hit a Honda Dio bike. Cab occupant Anjum Khan and Dio rider Syed were injured after the accident.
In the next accident opposite Anjaneya Temple, the Mercedes mowed down Mousina and Rizwan who were riding a Dio. Bike rider Rizwan Pasha died at the spot and his wife sustained grave injuries.
Finally, Dr Shankar hit his car into the compound of a hut bringing it to a halt.
