BANGALORE: The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) on Thursday, was presented with ‘water award’ for outstanding work in water management and sustainability at the Bangalore World Water Summit held in the city. The award was presented by Governor Hans Raj Bharadwaj to Hari Kumar, VP, Engineering and Maintenance, BIAL. The nominees were evaluated on criteria like implementation of water saving projects, reduction in water consumption, water monitoring systems and carbon footprint monitoring. BIAL has adopted technologies like flow controllers, overflow restrictors, mechanical runway sweeper and ride on scrubber drier for floor cleaning along with rainwater harvesting and well defined water policy. The company had recently won the 8th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Award for Excellence in Water Management.
