Patna: Bihar government on Saturday banned sale of all brands of noodles in the state saying they are not fit for human consumption.

The state government had earlier banned only Maggi but now all other brands like Knorr, Top Ramen etc have also been banned.

This decision has been taken after samples of all the brands of noodles present in the market were sent for testing.

Maggi noodles, a popular brand of noodle manufactured in India, was banned in the state after a high level of lead along with excessive amounts of taste enhancer such as monosodium glutamate (MSG) were allegedly detected in the food item.

Lead content in 14 of 27 samples in India was allegedly found to be 2.8 PPM to 5 PPM (particle per million), which is above the prescribed limit of 2.5 PPM.
