Bihar political crisis deepens, JDU MLAs likely to elect Nitish as leader, Manjhi may seek Assembly dissolution
Sources also add that even if Manjhi recommends dissolution of the Assembly most Cabinet ministers won't agree as they are with Nitish Kumar.

Patna: Bihar is heading for political instability with the ruling Janata Dal United legislative party meeting at around 4 pm on Saturday in Patna where former chief minister Nitish Kumar will be elected as the new leader forcing the incumbent Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi to resign.

But sensing the danger, Manjhi has called a Cabinet meeting at 2 PM and there is a strong likelihood that he may recommend Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to dissolve Bihar Assembly and call for fresh elections.

Sources say Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress have given their letters of support to Nitish Kumar. Sources also add that even if Manjhi recommends dissolution of the Assembly most Cabinet ministers won't agree as they are with Nitish Kumar.

Manjhi on Friday night had recommended the dismissal Road Construction Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lallan and Environment and Forest & Planning and Development Minister Prashant Kumar Shahi from Bihar Cabinet. Both the ministers are loyal to Nitish Kumar.

The Bihar Assembly has a strength of 243 with five vacancies. The ruling camp is 145-MLA strong with JDU (115), RJD (24), Congress (5) and Communist Party of India (1).

The opposition camp has Bharatiya Janata Party (88) and 5 Independents.
