New Delhi: The Indian and Pakistani governments have started the job of helping people identify the bodies of their loved ones who were on the Samjhauta Express on the fateful Sunday when twin blasts rocked two bogies of the train.
The Indian Foreign Ministry has already started the process of providing passports to Pakistani nationals who wanted to come to India to search for their kin.
On Wednesday, the Indian Government managed to send the seven bodies of Pakistani nationals - who had died in the blasts - to Attari, to be taken to their homeland from there.
Officials have been able to identify the bodies of only 13 Pakistani nationals yet, the seven that were sent to Attari amongst them. Other bodies were charred beyond recognition making identification difficult.
In addition to this a special counter of the Pakistan High Commission has been set up in Panipat, wherein officials are providing all necessary documents for passage to people.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri was quoted as saying that arrangements are being made to take back home the injured persons with less than 40 per cent burns.
Addressing a joint press conference with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee here, Kasuri said the Pakistan government had made arrangements to enable relatives of the victims of the Samjhauta Express attack to travel here.
