KOCHI: Adoor Prakash, Minister for Health & Family Welfare handed over the award for the best performance in the field of voluntary blood donation to Regional Blood Transfusion Centre, District Hospital, Aluva at a function held in Catholicate College Pathanamthitta. Aluva District Hospital Superintendent Dr N V Subaida received the award. The Centre had conducted about 400 blood donation cum awareness camps and has a 5000 member blood donors’ forum. The patients with bleeding disorders like haemophilia are given blood free of cost without replacement. The blood is also donated to dialysis and cancer patients at half the cost without replacement. The commitment of Dr Vijayakumar combined with the team work of the dedicated medical staff helped them earn the honour.
