The latest hoax bomb threat is the third or fourth on CM Achuthanandan.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police on Saturday received an anonymous call warning that a bomb which had been planted in Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan's official residence would go off on Sunday, but a thorough search revealed it was a prank, officials said.

"The latest hoax bomb threat is the third or fourth on CM Achuthanandan. The call came around 7.45 pm on Saturday and we got into the act immediately and undertook the general precautionary measures," Inspector General of Police, Arun Kumar Sinha said.

When the police arrived to search the Chief Minister's house, Achuthanandan was away and only his family members were present.

Sinha admitted that if something was not done these hoax callers will continue with these pranks.

"Laws have to be made stricter, if not, similar incidents will increase. Like in the past, we will soon zero in on the caller," Sinha said.

An earlier hoax call was traced to a telephone in Saudi Arabia.
