PUDUCHERRY: Keeping in step with the fast changing technology, BSNL launched the Fibre to Home (FTTH) servies at the Anughraha satellite town, Kattupalayam, near Thavalakuppam, in the presence of Chief Minister N Rangasamy, on Wednesday.FTTH service, which brings ultra speed internet connection, crystal clear IPTV and voice services can provide around 640 connections, depending on the speed ranging from 512 kbps to 1.2 Mbps. An optical network terminal has been established at a cost of Rs 20 lakh inside the town to provide the service. For unlimited broadband, the charges would be Rs 825 per month. For other packages, the tariff for FTTH would be 10 per cent more than the normal service. However, for land lines and mobile phones there is no extra charge, with customers benefiting from voice quality as well as picture clarity.The function which was scheduled to start at 3.30 pm was finally held at 8.45 pm, after the arrival of the Chief Minister.
