HYDERABAD: A BSNL employee from Kurnool who had come to Hyderabad for treatment was found missing from a corporate hospital at Nampally on Tuesday. Suspecting foul play by the hospital management, relatives of the missing person staged a dharna in front of the the hospital on Wednesday, braving heavy downpour. The hospital authorities as well as relatives lodged police complaints about the missing person.S Sri Harsha (33) is a sub-divisional engineer of BSNL working in Kurnool. As he was suffering from fever since the past one week, he came to the city on Tuesday to his sister’s house for treatment. Around 3 p.m on Tuesday, Sri Harsha went to Medwin hospitals at Nampally along with his brother, Srimantha who is also a doctor.The doctors advised Sri Harsha to undergo scanning which was duly done.Later, the doctors gave an injection to Sri Harsha after which he started to shiver and was shifted to the AMC ward. Before going into the ward, Sri Harsha wrote a letter asking senior officials to grant him leave and handed it over to Srimantha for faxing it to his office. “Srimantha went out to fax the letter around 4.30 p.m and returned after 30 minutes.By the time he returned, the security personnel had started to inquire about his brother. They claimed Sri Harsha had left the hospital,” Sri Harsha’s brother-in-law, S Shyam Sunder told the Express.Startled, Srimantha started to inquire with doctors but he did not get any convincing answer and in return asked the same question. “The doctors advised his wife Sri Latha to lodge a missing case with police. The doctors also lodged a complaint,” Shyam Sunder said. As mystery surrounded the whereabouts of Sri Harsha, his relatives and friends reached the hospital and staged a protest in front of the hospital in heavy rain on Wednesday.“I suspect foul play by the hospital authorities. He does not go out without informing me and calls me every hour when he is out but he did not call me since Tuesday,’’ an inconsolable Saritha told Express. Abids assistant commissioner of police ITVS Suryanarayana said, “Two teams have been formed to trace the missing person,’’ adding security personnel posted at the AMC ward, were picked up for questioning.“There are CCTVs installed in the hospital premises but some of them were not working. The audio system of some CCTVs were also not functioning,’’ Suryanarayana said. Cases have been registered based on complaints given by the hospital authorities and also relatives of Sri Harsha and investigation is on.
