BANGALORE: A day after securing the resignations of seven ministers and 15 MLAs to push the Karnataka government on a sticky wicket, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday trained his guns on BJP national leaders and accused them of conspiring to finish him off politically.Participating in a function here on Sunday, Yeddyurappa attacked the BJP top brass for not extending him support at his hour of crisis, and sought to embarrass the party by appreciating Congress president Sonia Gandhi.“One thing I have noticed and appreciated about the Congress leadership and Sonia is that they stand by their leaders whenever they are in trouble. They don’t try to belittle them in public, and instead they allow law to take its own course. But in the BJP, the situation is the opposite. I am sorry to say this, but we are becoming experts in conspiring and finishing those who stand accused,” Yeddyurappa said, while giving rise to rumours that he would strike a deal with the Congress ahead of the Assembly polls by floating a political outfit.Reiterating that charges against him are part of a conspiracy, Yeddyurappa asserted that he would not leave the battlefield and would bounce back stronger.Meanwhile, the crisis in the state BJP continues in spite of the high command’s efforts to stem it. BJP national president Nitin Gadkari had to postpone his Israel trip and engage in a series of talks with leaders like Arun Jaitley, Ananthkumar, Dharmendra Pradhan and Gowda to thrash out the issue. The talks went on till late Sunday night. In Bangalore, state BJP president K S Eshwarappa, senior BJP leaders and RSS held parleys with Yeddyurappa through the day, but could not move the latter from his demand for Gowda’s removal. Meanwhile, Energy Minister and prominent member of the BSY camp Shobha Karandlaje left for Delhi to make their stand clear to the party top brass.
