BANGALORE: Bangalore University (BU) is all set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for academic collaboration between BU and Georgia College and State University (GCSU), USA, announced officials from both universities at a press conference held at Gnana Jyothi Auditorium on Sunday. Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at GCSU Dr Tom Ormand informed reporters that both universities will be looking at using technology in classrooms and connecting the universities through virtual classrooms. A team of five delegates from GCSU met BU Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev to discuss the modalities. Dean of the John H Lounsbury College of Education, GCSU, Dr Jane Hinson said that her focus will be on figuring out how they can use technology to bring the students together.  “Exposing one group of students to another group belonging to a different culture will be one of the objectives,” said Dr Hinson. She clarified that this exchange will be “more like real-time high definition television”. Exchange of academic content and knowledge might lead to collaborative research projects. “We chose BU (to sign the MoU) as the content and academic framework is similar to GCSU. BU is a big enterprise, and disciplines-wise, we are very similar. We can get from BU what we cannot provide to our students and vice-versa,” added Dr Ormand.
