New Delhi:The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results of the class X board examination for Delhi, Allahabad, Guwahati and Panchkula on Tuesday May 29.
This year's pass rate has increased to 84.44 per cent over last year's 77.16 per cent.
Girl students like always have done better than the boys. The average score of girls has been 84.72 per cent against that of boys which is 84.24 per cent.
Out of a total of 6,97,345 students that had appeared for the test, a total of 28,187 students, have secured more than 90 per cent marks.
Chairman of the CBSE, Ashok Ganguly has attributed the increase in the pass percentage to the improvement brought about in the exam process.
"This could be due to the internal evaluation system introduced in many subjects, particularly Mathematics. Besides, we had restructured the question papers in Mathematics and Social Science," he said.
Ajmer topped among the six exam regions with a pass rate of 93.88 per cent, followed by Chennai 93.47 per cent. Delhi came second-last, with a pass percentage of 77.18
per cent, while Guwahati has performed the worst with a pass rate of 56 per cent.
The pass rate of students in Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalayas was the best at 96.41 per cent, followed by Kendriya Vidyalayas at 95.64 per cent.
Government schools have shown a dramatic improvement in performance securing a pass rate of 70.36 per cent as against 54.07 per cent of last year. Independent schools have recorded a pass percentage of 91.81 per cent.
