Former Indian skipper Dilip Sardesai said that the form of Virender Sehwag and Mohammad Kaif was worrying him.

Margao: Dilip Sardesai, the only Goan-born player to have represented India in Tests, said on Monday Virender Sehwag might be demoted in the batting order to help him regain his form.

"Virender Sehwag can be dropped down the order to get back his form. Look at his performance in the past. He has not done well only in the last 15 innings or so," the former middle order batsman and one of the heroes of India's first ever overseas Test win, over the West Indies in 1971, said.

Sardesai also said that the form of Mohammad Kaif "was worrying" him too.

"He needs to perform and not rest on past laurels. Consistency is important. The same holds for Sourav Ganguly too."

He praised coach Greg Chappell, saying the Australian had the "courage of convictions" in taking important decisions. I feel he has the courage of convictions in taking decisions. I feel he's done a good job with captain Rahul Dravid."
