Chefs prove their skills

BANGALORE: Culinary Journeys 2012’, a cooking demonstration, organised to promote the latest edition of the ‘Kingfisher Explocity Great Food Guide Bangalore’, was held at Reliance TimeOut in the city recently.The event featured executive chef Bhagwan Singh along with chef Alauddin from The Great Kabab Factory. The main idea behind the event was to showcase dishes that could be easily prepared at home, without any struggle.With three years of experience and being North West Frontier cuisine, Chef Bhagwan Singh gave a demo of two very simple recipes.The audience even had a chance to savour the two delicacies, ‘Makai Mutter Ke Shammi’ and ‘Galouti Kebab’ at the event.The live cooking demo was an interactive session. In this session, audience could ask food-related questions as the dishes were prepared. Many participants turned up with their notebooks and pens, to take down the few tips and tricks of the trade that Chef Bhagwan was sharing.A total of two dishes were prepared in the demonstration, but the one that stood out the most and got everyone’s taste buds tingling was the ‘Makai Mutter Ke Shammi’.“The Makai mutter Ke shammi was a new innovation and was simple. I will surely try it out at home,” said Kavitha Reddy, a housewife.When the Chef Bhagwan Singh was asked what are his favourite summertime ingredients, he said, “Mangoes you get right now are delicious and tomatoes - they are healthy and very sumptuous.”The event also included a lucky draw. The two lucky people who won got a free meal for two at The Great Kabab Factory. When asked about his love for food and cooking, Chef Bhagwan Singh said, “Food is everything to me and I have no other skill except cooking.”The next cooking demo will be held on May 18, at 6 pm at the same venue. The next event will showcase Mediterranean cuisine featuring Chef Saurabh Arora from ‘Caperberry’.
