Ashada month is considered an inauspicious month, according to our Hindu calendar and any kind of deeds are not done for many reasons. The fourth month of the Hindu calendar is the Ashada month. It is believed that Lord Yoga falls asleep during this month, therefore, on this occasion, no auspicious activities including marriage, homecoming or upanayana, take place during this month, making it an inauspicious one.

Ashada month begins after the commencement of dry rains. This time, the Ashada month starts July 6, as the dry drains have already started. Thus, after the beginning of Ashada month, all the auspicious activities like marriage, house entry, upanayana, buying a vehicle and land, and starting a new business are prohibited.

The start of Ashada month means the start of the rainy season. It is also considered that there is more rainfall during the Ashada month. Road traffic also faces a big problem due to heavy rainfall. Therefore, because of all these reasons, it is regarded as inconvenient to perform any kind of promising activities during the month of Ashada.

It is also believed that, in most auspicious situations, lord Yoga falls into a yoga sleep. As Dakshi Nyana, Chaturmasa starts here, no good activities can be performed.
