BHUBANESWAR: The Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) on Wednesday signed an MoU with the State Government for extending the lease period of Master Craft Training Institute (MCTI) from 20 to 99 years.
A Central Government undertaking, CIPET took over MCTI in 2005 for providing multiskill industrial training to ITI and polytechnic passouts with an aim to improve their chances of getting job. Apart from offering conventional diploma, postdiploma and postgraduate diploma courses through MCTI, CIPET is also providing special training programmes to State governmentsponsored candidates. The centre is also imparting training to ITI instructors under Centre for Excellence scheme.

Besides, the MCTI is providing skill development training to youths belonging to scheduled categories, minority community, visuallychallenged, manual scavengers and other economically vulnerable groups. The centre has so far trained 740 SC/ST, 150 minority and 23 visuallychallenged youths, 26 manual scavengers, 76 BPL and 320 other backward classes and socially and economically backward class youths in various trades.
