People, after exhausting other means, can post grievances on portal

Have you been vexed by the lackadaisical attitude of the officials concerned to solving the problems in your locality? You need no longer sit dejected cursing your fate. At a click of the mouse you can bring the issue to the notice of your MLA or even lodge a complaint with the state legislature.

State Assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar launched e-petitioning facility on the Assembly’s website, www.aplegislature.org, to give an easy interface to citizens for sending their petitions directly to the legislature.

Even the assets and liabilities of the legislators will be uploaded on the website. This information will be available in the next 15 days.

Manohar said the concept of e-petition was to reinforce the role of the legislature as the principal recipient of public petitions. It was intended to provide an electronic access to the legislature to find a quick solution to their grievances with the member concerned as a facilitator, he said.  The speaker also made it clear that a petition must not offend any rule of the legislature. The petitioner should exhaust all  available channels at the local level before filing the e-petition and must provide proof of his or her identification.
