CHENNAI: As part of their out-reach programme, about 50 students from the National Cadet Corps (NCC) wing of Sir Theagaraya College, Washermenpet, on Wednesday participated in a mass cleaning programme at the Government Periphery Hospital, Tondiarpet.Kannappan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, inaugurated the drive and P Vetrivel, R K Nagar MLA, distributed participation certificates to the students.During the day-long activity, students removed bushes and trash from the hospital premises. According to the students, the NCC wing of the Sir Theagaraya College, Washermenpet, regularly organises such programmes.The hospital authorities, during the programme, urged the local MLA to take immediate steps to stop haphazard parking of heavy vehicles, including lorries, near the hospital premises.
