Collector chides sleeping official

ERODE: The newly assumed collector R Anandakumar has chided some officials at the grievance day petition meeting held at the Collectorate on Monday, after citing sleeping of an official at the meeting.The collector, who assumed office on Friday, attended his first such meeting on Monday. After receiving some petitions, he came to know that some officials came without even the register for the meeting.All should come with the registers hereafter. In fact, some petitions sent to CM’s cell last year were found pending. You should not attend the meeting for namesake. You should do some service to people. Otherwise there is no meaning in attending it, he advised.  Some officials, attending the meeting afresh, said they have been deputed by their department heads. They said they did not know anything about pending petitions.  Mere attending the meeting here and wasting time is not required. At the same time, you should not postpone your regular work in your office in the name of spending time in the grievance day meeting, the collector said.
