The couple has been avid tennis fans since the early 1970s.

From cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar to Bollywood celebrities Siddharth Malhotra-Kiara Advani, several Indians have attended the Wimbledon Championships this year. Now, a veteran couple from India has gone viral after celebrating their wedding anniversary at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) in London. In an interview on Wimbledon’s official YouTube channel, the husband-wife duo recognised themselves as avid tennis fans, who have been following the sport since the early 1970s. They had a dream of enjoying the Grand Slam live from the stands. And the wish was finally fulfilled on their 36th marriage anniversary.

The couple was at the Centre Court on July 4 when Novak Djokovic played his second-round match against England’s Jacob Fearnley. The man revealed his excitement while entering the iconic venue. “We have been tennis fans since the early 70s. It’s very emotional for us. It’s very emotional because it’s a dream destination for both of us," he could be heard saying in the YouTube video.

The man further expressed his admiration for Djokovic, saying that he particularly wanted to watch a game featuring the seven-time Wimbledon champion. Referring to the “spine-tingling" atmosphere at the arena, he noted, “When he came into the Central Court, I was feeling very good."

The couple also spoke about the legacy of some Indian tennis stars at Wimbledon, highlighting the names of Vijay Amritraj, Leander Paes, Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza. “They have always been our favourites," said the woman. The couple relished strawberries and cream while watching the game and branded it as “an integral part of Wimbledon history."

The video has garnered more than 8,000 views on YouTube. Many users wished the couple a “Happy wedding anniversary." One of the viewers acknowledged, “The simple pleasures of life are the most valued." Another viewer congratulated the couple for fulfilling their long-standing dream and commented, “Kya baat."

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic has already marked his entry into the Wimbledon semi-finals. He got a walkover in the last-eight clash after his opponent Alex de Minaur was ruled out due to a hip injury. It will be Djokovic’s 13th appearance in the Wimbledon semi-finals which equals the record of eight-time champion Roger Federer.
