The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday claimed that Congress is afraid of declaring its chief ministerial candidate due the popularity of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. "Chouhan is incomparable as he has created a name for himself in the state politics by hard work," state BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar said.
"His popularity cannot be compared with other political party's leaders in the state," Tomar said. Tomar claimed that the Congress is afraid of Chouhan's popularity and is therefore not declaring its chief ministerial candidate.
He also dismissed rumours that after MP Assembly polls, Chouhan will move towards national politics. The BJP leader said that he was sure that under Chouhan's leadership the party would score an hat-trick in the Assembly polls, due for later this year.
To a question, Tomar said that the party will declare its candidates for 230 Assembly seats in MP at an appropriate time and have no plans to declare it earlier.
