HYDERABAD: A couple was arrested by Bowenpally police on Saturday for allegedly killing a person who is the ex-boy friend of the girl, a few months ago in Jubilee Hills. City police said that M Surender, a B.Com dropout, was caught in a theft case recently by Bownepally police. During interrogation Surender disclosed information about the murder which he had committed in the presence of his girl friend Sandhya, a beautician. The couple killed Sandhya's ex-boy friend Anil in January. "Sandhya is Anil's ex-girlfriend. It was on Anil's birthday that he, Sandhya and Surender had a party and consumed alcohol. Surender picked up an argument with Anil and stabbed him with the knife used for cutting Anil's birthday cake," Bowenpally DSI John Victor said. The altercation happened since Anil had been forcing Sandhya to give up her relation with Surender. Following the murder, both Surender and Sandhya allegedly set ablaze Anil's body to destroy the evidence. "Surender has been previously arrested by Kushaiguda, Uppal and Medchal police regarding property offences and theft of two-wheelers," north zone deputy commissioner of police Ch Srikanth said in a press release. Police recovered four tolas of gold, one kilogram silver and two Honda Activa vehicles worth Rs 4.5 lakh.
