The High Court on Tuesday lambasted the police officials for filing an incomplete investigation report.
The report was filed in connection with a suo motu case following a PIL on the mysterious death of B N Bhramarambika, a law student of Seshadripuram Law College, who is suspected to have become a victim of a ‘honour killing’.
Chikkballapur police submitted an investigation report and a pathology report about the exhumed body of Bhramarambika. According to the report, there was no trace of poison and a black ligature mark was noticed on the neck and she was suffering from some health problems. The report said she had committed suicide. Going through the report, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice Aravind Kumar asked the police, “What were her health problems and what is the name of the doctor who conducted the post-mortem?”
The police officials failed to answer these question. Justice Sen remarked, “What kind of investigation are you doing? With such police officials, God has to save this state,” and directed the police to submit a detailed report and adjourned the case. Several classmates of the deceased girl had written a letter to High Court suspecting honour killing.
