CPM served with a police notice

KOCHI: The police on Sunday served a notice on the CPM, asking it not to disturb the functioning of the High Court by holding demonstrations.In the notice served on CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Kochi City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar requested him not to disrupt either the functioning of the court, or public life at large. Failing this, the party head would be held legally responsible, the letter added. The notice was served on the basis of reports, which said that thousands would assemble in front of the court premises. The CPM had called for an agitation on Monday  against the High Court sentencing CPM leader  M V Jayarajan to six months simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000 for contempt of court.
