New Delhi: The Delhi government may hand over the management of Asha Kiran Homes, where deaths of 11 inmates were recently reported, to an expert panel following Chief Secretary's report that pointed out at "administrative lapses" at the shelter.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has directed the Social Welfare Department of Delhi Government to prepare a note on rope in an expert panel to run Asha Kiran Homes for mentally challenged children and women.
Earlier this month, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had ordered Chief Secretary M M Kutty to submit his report on shelter after 11 deaths of inmates were reported.
Sisodia had recently directed Social Welfare Department to submit CCTV footages to his office as soon as possible. They said the report of the Chief Secretary will be submitted in the court which is hearing the matter related to this issue.
In his note to Kutty, Kejriwal had hit out the Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, that runs the home, and sought to know the reason behind her silence on the "11 deaths" that reportedly took place over the last two months.
