New Delhi: Seventy-two-year-old Har Prakash, popularly known as Guinness Rishi, holds four Guinness world records, while 17 of his feats have found place in the Limca Book of Records. Now, this Dheerpur Colony resident is all set for yet another accomplishment.
Rishi plans to contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming Delhi civic polls to set a record of polling nothing. However, he won't contest from the ward where he lives and will file his papers from a neighbouring ward because his wife has threatened to vote for him if he contests from their own ward.
"My wife doesn't want me to make this record. She says people make fun of me and call me a mad man. She says she would vote for me; but I have found a way to deal with her. I'll be contesting from another ward," he said.
When asked Rishi -- who has over 200 world flags permanently tattooed on his body, about 50 of them on his face and head -- if any political party approached him with a ticket, he said, "Yes, several of them. But when they came to know what I was planning, they turned hesitant."
Speaking about his campaign plan, Rishi said, "I'll visit every house in the area and will request people not to vote for me so that I can set a new record. However, I'm not selfish. I'll encourage people to come out in large numbers and vote." He added that he would hire a team of cameramen who'll accompany him during his campaigns. "I will record people's reaction. I believe this will excite them to cast their vote," he said.
When asked if he supports Anna Hazare, who has been asking people to elect right candidates, he said, "I do not support that man, as he asks people to vote for a particular party. This is not correct."
The septuagenarian has a piece of advice for the election commission too. "Tell people that they won't get ration card, LPG cylinders, etc if they don't vote and then see the reaction. People will flock to polling booths," he suggests.
