Devyani arrest: RPI activists vandalise Domino's outlet in Mumbai
RPI activists said they were protesting against US's treatment of Dalits.

Mumbai: In a fallout of the Devyani Khobragade case, a Domino's Pizza outlet was on Friday vandalised by the Republican Party of India (RPI) activists in Mumbai. RPI activists said they were protesting against US's treatment of Dalits.

Earlier this week, BSP chief Mayawati too had created a controversy by saying the Centre reacted late as Devyani is a Dalit.

"I know I should not bring caste into this but the overall conduct with this girl was inappropriate. The central government reacted late because she was a Dalit," Mayawati had said in the Rajya Sabha.

Mayawati's statement was followed by an uproar in the Rajya Sabha as MPs protested against her remarks. "Why is the Congress party making noise in Parliament? Let's admit she is a Scheduled Caste," Mayawati added as MPs protested.

Hitting out at the US, Mayawati said, "The method of checking the Indian woman diplomat was the most inappropriate." Demanding action, Mayawati said, "We should take up this issue with US. We need to introspect on our foreign policy."

Devyani Khobragade was not only arrested on charges of visa fraud and handcuffed in public view last week but also stripped and searched in the police station in New York. Devyani was kept also in a lockup with common criminals and drug addicts.
