Efforts afoot to set up juvenile police units

ALAPPUZHA: The Kerala police have taken steps to set up special juvenile police units in all the districts.
A circular in this connection has been issued by DGP Jacob Punnoose. According to the circular, the subinspectors of all the police stations in the state have been designated juvenile child welfare officers, who will handle the issues related to the juveniles within the respective police stations.The assistant commissioner or the deputy superintendent of police of the District Crime Records Bureau will be the officer-in-charge and the circle inspector of the women's cell will be the assisting officer.
