Chennai: Facing outrage by social media users, the two Facebook pages in Tamil which were created to attract paedophiles have been shut down. The two pages had pictures of young girls which attracted thousands of lewd and sexually explicit comments.
As per Facebook's rules, community pages will be taken down for sexual exploitation. Child rights activists in Chennai are planning to file a petition to the police commissioner demanding action against Facebook and the creator of such pages.
Last week, similar pages surfaced in Kerala. After several complaints, the pages were pulled down. There were pictures of children from the age of 5 to 15 and comments asking what one would like to do to the child and commenting on the body parts of children.
The cyber police had forwarded the complaint to Facebook and the page had been taken down.
