CHENNAI: High voltage hit at least 20 houses in Pattabiram and Thanturai, destroying electronic appliances, in the wee hours of Thursday.Police sources said the first incident occurred in the house of Kandasamy of First Street in Pattabiram at 3.30 am when the voltage went up and the TV set went up in flames.The entire house of Dasarathan in the same locality was gutted along with Rs 35,000 in cash when the home theatre went up in flames. The police alerted fire tenders from Avadi which put out the blaze.“We have given numerous complaints to the Electricity Board about the fluctuation, but they have fallen on deaf ears,” said P Loganathan, a resident of Thanthurai.Police said all electrical appliances in houses where the fluctuation occurred were destroyed. Thanks to the im arrival of the fire tenders, the blaze was put out. Had it spread, it could have resulted in loss of lives.
