KOCHI: There is no dispute on retaining the Fisheries Research Station at Puthuvype belonging to Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), Ports Minister K Babu has said.The minister was delivering the inaugural address at the KUFOS Day celebrations at the Panangad headquarters. The committee’s decision to find a suitable location for the Oceanarium and the LNG terminal will be accepted.The minister said that the indigenous knowledge of traditional fisherfolk must be integrated with modern science. He hoped that the projects could go hand in hand with the socio-economic and psychological dimensions of the fisherfolk and address their integrated development.The meeting was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr B Madhusoodhana Kurup. Projects worth Rs 1,000 crore have been submitted to the Central agencies for the development of the university.The release of the university’s first magazine and the proceedings of the seminar on ‘Advances in Fisheries Research’ were released on the occasion. MLAs Dominic Presentation and Hibi Eden were also present on the occasion.
