TUMKUR: The government will ensure sufficient food and water for elephants in the forests in order to prevent them from straying in to human habitat, said Forest Minister C P Yogeshwar here on Thursday. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function, he informed that about 250 elephants die annually to various accidents. “The state government has been contemplating various projects to safeguard about 6,000 pachyderms and 250 tigers,” he said. Meanwhile, Deputy Conservator of Forests Vijayakumar said that tenders were floated for setting up a tree park on Akka-Tangikere tank bed in Tumkur.
